Met Gala 2017
17:07The Met Gala to me is like Christmas day to little children. Every year I go to bed excited to wake up the next morning to see what the Father Christmas of fashion has to offer this time.
My Met Gala style examination starts with me looking on the Daily Mail app (I know it embarrasses me to admit I read it) to check out the hundreds of pictures they upload of everyone there, form my own opinions and then go on Twitter to see who's being praised and called an absolute 'KWEEN' and who's shocking looking has been made into a meme.
The accuracy of this tweet is uncanny.

This year I was both blown away by how
right some celebs got it and just straight out embarrassed for how wrong it
went for others. So, here’s my list of the best dressed at the Met Gala this
year.
1. Zendaya
Daya did that. This look is just
incredible, she is absolutely glowing and in my opinion she steals the show. It’s
not even that I’m in love with the Dolce and Gabbana dress (which are usually
to die for). The pattern doesn’t really do it for me, it’s a bit OTT tropical
with the giant parrot. But regardless I absolutely love the style of it - I’m a
sucker for off the shoulder gowns and with the vibrant tangerines, bright blues
and golden yellow paired with the red lip and wild halo of a ‘fro it’s a look
that’s going to go down in Daya history.
2. Cara Delevigne
Recently I’ve been wondering where Cara’s
got to, once the “It Girl” in the fashion world she’s slowly gone off the
radar. Not that I haven’t been seeing her in modelling campaigns, she just hasn’t
been very prominent in the tabloids recently pictured being effortlessly
stylish partying with her “squad”. So, when she made an appearance at the Met
Gala last night looking chic as ever I couldn’t get enough. From the tips of
her razor sharp pointed silver stilettos to her silver painted, Swarovski crystal
encrusted head, Cara’s look was on point. Her embellished Chanel suit was like
a high-fashion, futuristic, avant-garde fusion and she looked undeniably
incredible in it.
3. Gigi Hadid
Whereas last year I wasn’t that much of a
fan of Gigi’s look and was in love with Bella’s, this year the tables had
turned and Gigi definitely took the centre stage for me. She was like a modern-day
Cinderella. Wearing a Tommy Hilfiger dress which was a point to her Tommy x
Gigi collaboration late last year, with elegant flowing tulle down one side and
a seductive asymmetric design with a fishnet stocking on the other her look was
perfect for the Comme des Garcons avant-garde theme. Round of applause for her
glam team because they got it spot on.
4. Hailey Baldwin
Another fairytale look, Hailey Baldwin
looked enchanting in her tiered tulle Carolina Herrera design. Whilst the peach,
to pale pink to nude ombre skirt gave off princess vibes her crop top gave it a
slightly more sultry feel. Paired with a silver chain choker, diamond earrings
and a romantic Swarovski crystal embellished veil she rocked elegance with an
edge.
5. Rihanna
Whilst I feel like I’m not educated enough
on the fashion world to comment on Rihanna’s Met Gala outfit, I’m putting her
on my list. When I first saw what she wore I won’t deny I was shocked and a bit
baffled. But after I gave myself a minute to revaluate I realised that when it
comes down to it, Rihanna was probably the best dressed there. When it comes to
the Met Gala what people don’t realise is that you’re meant to go in costume, it
was originally named the Costume Institute Gala - hence there being a theme
every year. It’s all about bold, unconventional fashion. Therefore, despite the
majority turning up in stunning yet conventional ball gowns, that’s not what it’s
about. The theme was Comme des Garcons and that’s exactly what Ri wore and for
that I believe she slayed. Also, can we please talk about 1. Her incredible
make-up and 2. That after party outfit. That striking pink make-up look is
everything, pink eye-shadow has always been a favourite of mine but Ri has
taken it to a whole other level. And then there’s the after party look. If I could
dress like that every day, I would. She looks like a life-size millionaire Barbie
doll who spur of the moment decided to leave her boudoir and go and have a
night on the town and I absolutely love it. The Gucci, the Prada, the turquoise
feathers, the green snakeskin, the pink fur, the sparkly sunglasses, it’s
something only she could pull off and she does it effortlessly.
